10 Major Prayers To Pray While Waiting.

Have you ever been told to wait for something or someone and you had to wait for so long without a single signal? How did it feel? Great? I guess not. One major fact that remains constant like the scientific constant k is that we experience waiting periods at one season of our lives or the other. It may be in the area of our finances, our jobs, our families, our relationships, etc., but there’s no denying that it can be very tough.

It becomes even more difficult when we just can’t see what causes the delay especially in the area of relationships, and the temptation to jump into the next wagon of dating/courtship readily presents itself. At such a point, the desire to pray is at minimum or nil, and this is where the danger to miss our way is greatest.

At such times where we feel unmotivated to pray, here are simple lines to table at the Master’s feet.

Waiting can be tough but guess who’s tougher? You!

1. Lord, Help Me To Be Patient

Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. 1S 28:16.
The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. PS 145:15

There is often the danger to settle for an unfinished foundation-a man or woman who is half-baked, half-done or uncooked. But there is a kind of patience that enables us to wait and not rush until God has brought the right man or woman who has a solid foundation.

I may be tired but I won’t give up in prayer s

We must ask God for the virtue of patience if we must enter into the right relationship. Remember, it may be tough, but you are tougher with God on your side.

2. Lord, Help Me Trust Your Plan.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jer 29:11.

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. When it looks like no one pays you attention, no one you like wants to be with you, no one you talk to wants to go on a date with you, you must trust God’s plan.

I’ll keep waiting because I trust your plan, O God.

He’s the only one who knows the end from the beginning. So, when it looks like there are zero chances with what you want, trust God’s plan. Who’s reaffirming his or her trust in God?

3. Lord, Let My Desires Never Go Out Of Your Will

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God. Ps 42:1

The desires of a man’s heart are, to a large extent, based on emotions or what we see or hear. As a result, they can be quite fickle.

I may like what I see or hear, but my desires must be lost in thine

Once a man’s heart is lost in God, however, the crux of the matter is always to please Him. If He wants to, he makes some changes that would be beneficial to you and your future without changing who He is. This is why we must be completely lost in Him so that we don’t use old manuscripts for a new project .

4. Lord, Help Me To Occupied With Something Profitable While Waiting

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. Ps 90:17

The waiting period does not give room for idleness or being a busy body in other men’s matters. It requires that you work harder – creating multiple streams of income, acquiring skills, earning a degree or professional certificate, volunteering, etc. Like I said in a previous post, now is not the time to sulk. Read more about it here.

Never Idle

When God discovers that you aren’t lazy and you commit your ways into His hands, he prospers it like never before.

5. Lord Help Me Not To Compare Myself With Anyone Else

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2Cor10:12

The tendency to compare yourself with other friends or colleagues will creep in if you are not careful. Thoughts that breed envy and jealousy may cloud your mind when you begin to compare yourself with others. Becoming genuinely happy for people who get into relationships before us has a way of attracting beautiful prospects our way.

Be truly happy for the other!

We must ask God for the grace not to behave foolishly by comparing ourselves with others. What if God is preparing you a Mansion while you keep being jealous of someone’s beautiful Hut?

6. Lord, Help Me Not To Compete With Others

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. Ps 5:3

Competition has a way of lowering one’s self-esteem. Let me tell you this, no one has ever gotten an award for being the first to be in a relationship. You must be in competition with yourself and, if there’s anyone you want to look to, it must be God.

Celebrate rather than compete.

Ask God to give you the grace to celebrate others rather than compete while you are waiting.

7. Lord, Deliver My Steps From Wrong Partners

O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps. Jer 10:23

If there is anything that brings much pain to man, it is associating with the wrong people. The story of a young lady who was in a relationship with a narcissist who almost ruined her life, but for divine intervention, comes to mind. Thankfully, they broke up a few months to their wedding. Another story of a young man who lost his mind just a few weeks after the relationship as a result of an evil covenant made by the lady is also an example of wrong association. These are real-life experiences that have made me realize that not every human on the street is right for you. While some are looking for lives to devour, others are looking for a dumping site for their baggage.

May we not cross paths with the wrong persons.

Say this after me: “Lord, may my steps be ordered by you. Keep my feet from evil men and women.”

8. Lord, Help Me Not To Have A Heart Of Bitterness

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you" Eph 4:31,32.

Bitterness is one major thief of happiness and progress. Those who have had a bad experience in a previous relationship always face the possibility of carrying a heavy heart- one that tends towards revenge and the likes. If you are one in this shoe, I ask that you lay your burdened heart at the feet of Jesus. You may have to spend some quality time in His presence and maybe even cry your eyes out. Christ is able to roll that stone of bitterness away.

You can say this simple prayer with me: Lord, I acknowledge that I carry bitterness and resentment against………………I ask that you take it away and exchange it for a garment of praise. Please forgive…………………… Thank you, Father. Amen.

9. Lord, Help Me To Live A Life Of Sexual Purity

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Col3:5

We do not have to be in a relationship before our sexual feelings pop up. From the age of puberty and above, it’s normal that we experience these feelings as individuals, but the question is, How do we put our bodies under subjection until the right time? You may need to read this.

It is our duty not to satisfy such feelings through dirty means. The ability for us to control our bodies before we get to the altar is a continuous process. Make a deliberate and conscious effort to speak affirmatively to your body and don’t forget to ask for the grace to wait.

10. Lord, Give Me A Daily Assurance That You Are Preparing The Best For Me

Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18

Have you heard this proverbial saying, The best is saved for the last! ? I guess you have. One major thing that gives me keeps me going is always having God’s promises for me at my fingertips. When that voice of discouragement whispers into my ears, I recite one of God’s promises for me. Studying my Bible and praying every day gives me a daily reminder that God cares, and having the Holy Spirit whisper to my ears through the Word that He is saving the best for me is my daily tonic.

What’s your assurance?

Please say this, Lord give me an assurance that you are bringing the best my way.

Do you remember Prayer 1? This is a connection.
