What To Do When The One You Love Doesn’t Love You

Love is truly a beautiful thing and it is even more beautiful when shown someone and it’s been reciprocated. Studies show that everyone craves to show love and be loved at one point in time or the other.

Relationship expert and author Alexis Nicole White agrees that if you’ve found yourself having feelings for someone who isn’t equipped to return them, then chances are you could be in for some serious hurt. No doubt, unrequited love can be very painful. But what happens when the one you love doesn’t love you or doesn’t love you as much? Should you just sulk and get into depression? Of course, it can be very tough-there is no denying about that. But remember, tough times don’t last, only tough people do. When the one whom you love dearly replies to your expression of feelings in a casual tone/way, what do you do?

1.Give Them Space

Yes please! It might be tough but you need to do this for your own good. According to elite daily,
“It is never okay to just accept the bare minimum from someone; it’s called settling,” says White. “Stand your ground and clear space for the real thing!”

If you do not give them space, you will only be settling for minimum because they won’t be able to give you that optimum love you deserve. Remember you worth more, don’t fix yourself in a tight corner.

2. Let Out Your Emotions In Your Private Space And Avoid Blaming Them.

This is not the time to let out your emotions through social media updates, calls or texts. Some ladies and men use this period to write negative things about the persons involved and they keep playing the blame game. They blame them for ever having their paths cross and this goes on and on because they just can’t move on.

You need to give up on the blame game, monitoring, and unguarded outbursts. Your actions might just end up bringing you regrets later in the future.

3. Channel Your Love For Them Into Something You Love Doing

Science tells us that Energy wasted cannot be regained and so does enthusiasm. If all you do is, sit back and sulk or hide under your duvet for days without doing anything which may gradually lead you to fall into depression, bear in mind that you may never be able to recover that period you’ve wasted.

Am I saying it will be easy for you to forget about them? No. All I’m saying is while you think about the full tank of love you think you have for them which makes you very enthusiastic about life, you can channel that enthusiasm into creating beautiful moments and memories from the things you love doing. It could be charity work, volunteering, entrepreneurship, career, ministry, research etc. You’ll be surprised at how much you are able to accomplish because you didn’t give up on yourself.

4. Give Up on Stalking Them

Curiosity might get a firm grip on you at this period but resist that temptation. I know you want to know who they are interested in. I understand you want to see whose pictures they are liking and what comments they are making on social media. I am aware you pass through their street just to keep tabs on them, but hey! Can you please stop that?

You might end up misinterpreting every of their actions and even give yourself a heartache. And if truly, they’ve moved on to the one whom they truly love and vice versa, please accept it in good fate. Kindly give up on stalking them. It is just like having a merry go round and going back to Egypt. I know you loved their looks, their stature, etc and every other thing about them, but if you don’t look forward, you wouldn’t realise that there are still beautiful and handsome men and women out there who could possibly be all you’ve ever dreamed of and maybe even much more than you could have ever imagined.

5.Reassure Yourself That You Will Find Love Again

I didn’t say you should assure yourself, I insisted on reassure. Please, you need to be convinced about this. It needs to ring in your subconscious. You might feel you will never get someone whom you will love or who will love you but you need to get those negative thoughts out of your mind.

You will feel those bubbles of love again and for the right person!

Take a good look at yourself in the mirror each morning and say beautiful words of affirmation to yourself. Tell yourself that, if you couldn’t find love in Person A, it’s probably because Person B(who is on the way) has some fantastic traits that suits you just perfectly. Remind yourself that you are in the process of coming forth as pure Gold. You are distinct, peculiar, handsome(beautiful) and amazing.

Most importantly, please commit every phase of your life into God’s hands. He will surely see you through. Wondering how to do that? Check out here.

    Very well said.
One scripture I take with me every time I find myself at “crossroads” is “all things work together for good…” So I am never tied to my will but I let Jesus take the wheel – bad or good turn outs,, I keep moving.
    Thanks for sharing, dear!

It’s very interesting! Giving space for me is necessary. I can do that a lot. But what if the person is just pulling some extra personal charisma to know the real you?

You will definitely know by how the person responds.. If she says things like, “can we wait a little?” or “give me more time”, you will know she wants to know you better. But if it’s something like, “please don’t wait for me” or ” you are a really nice guy but..” you would know as well. Thanks so much, sir for your contribution

Truly what been discussed hurts but common if he’s truly for you he will come back if not, you get to move on cause God knows the best for you. All the previous ones, they are stepping Stone. Am I making sense?
